2.Necessary hurdles on the mission journey. Speaker: Omar Djoeandy, SIM
If it is so urgent and so important, why is getting there made so difficult? As we take steps toward serving in long term mission, it doesn’t take long before we confront hurdles: raising huge amounts of financial support, Bible college, extra professional training, grueling application processes. What’s with all this? Come to this elective for a chance to ‘vent your spleen’ and get a handle on some deeper purposes behind the hurdles and how to overcome them.

3.The long-term effect of short-term mission. Speaker: Sunny Phillip
The task before us is to see how short-term mission can contribute to the overall nature and purpose of the existence of the church. Sunny will examine paradigms that need shifting in our understanding and practice of short-term mission. How does the receiving church view short term mission? Is it about ‘me’ and ‘my story’ or about placing the emphasis on the ministry and the people we minister to? With a shift in emphasis every short-term missionary will contribute to the long-term mission of the church.

8.Reaching the 4 billion who don't read! Speaker: Graydon Colville, Global Recordings
A staggering 4 billion people (approximately two-thirds of the world's population), many of the world's least reached people groups among them, can't, don't or won't read. There are still thousands of language groups with little or nothing of the Scriptures - even if they could read them. How can they become disciples of Jesus Christ? Can they be good learners and even teachers without first learning to read? What can we do to help these people encounter Christ in a way that speaks to their hearts within their own cultural context.
